The LiU-ID is the user-id that gives access to email, the Student portal, mass storage, computer halls and some systems at the departments.
As a new student you get access to a temporary LiU-ID by creating it yourself on www.liu.se/admitted and by following the instructions. After you have attended the roll-call you can register for your programme/courses. The day after your registration you can collect an activation key at one of the main Student Service Desks and activate your regular LiU-ID, which also provides access to your e-mail account.
Before you can obtain your regular LiU-ID you are obliged to sign a user agreement, which regulates how you can and cannot use the IT-resources at the University. Please be sure to read the agreement properly! You will get a copy of the agreement.
Forgotten your password?
If you have forgotten your password you can visit one of the main Student Service Desks (campus Valla and Norrköping) or the LiU-card office at Entrance 65 (campus US) in order to get a new activation key.
You change your password to the LiU-ID on the following page:
Each semester some students' LiU-ID's will expire and be deleted as part of our database maintenance. We use Ladok as the basis for determining which LiU-ID's should be deleted.
Dates for expirations
In April and November it is time for expirations and inactivations of LiU-ID's. An email is sent to everyone whose LiU-ID will expire well in advance (1 month). Errors may be corrected before the 1st.
Exceptions from expiration
If you have finished and passed at least 30 credits at Linköping University, you can keep your LiU-ID, but with a limited access. As an alumnus (former student) you retain access to some of the IT-services in the Student portal: study results, verifiable transcripts and the ability to change your address. You can also keep your student e-mail account. To access the Student portal, use your usual login. If you have forgotten your password, contact the Student Service Desk: 013-28 20 00 or e-mail email@example.com.
Answers to questions about the LiU-ID are answered on the FAQ page.
