My access card doesn't work! What do I do?

If the card reader goes red immediately when you use the card with it, it is probably because one of the following:

  • Your card is blocked. Contact a LiU-card station for a replacement and help.
  • You do not have access through the door in question. The general access that all student's have is shown here. If the door in question is one of those, contact us and we'll fix it. Any other access is special and handled by the door's in question owner - typically the institution - and queries about access should be directed at them.

If the reader goes green when you use the card in it and red when you enter your PIN-code, the PIN-code is wrong. Change it from the Student Portal.

Finally, if the card reader doesn't react at all when you use the card with it, you have probably either used the card wrongly or the card or the reader is broken. Make sure that you hold the card up against the the keypad, and not against the display; the sensor in the reader only have a range of a few centimeters and is situated behind the keypad, so a card held against the display won't be sensed. If the card reader's display displays nothing, or if it's lights are all off, the reader is broken. Please contact us and we'll repair it. If none of the above, contact a LiU-card station for control and possible replacement of a broken card.

I have forgotten or lost the PIN-code

Go to the Student Portal and set a new PIN code.

My library card doesn't work!

You must have updated the LiU-card for the library card function to work properly. If you have done so, contact the library for further assistance.
