Hard Rain - an open environmental seminar

In conjunction with the international photo exhibition “Hard Rain: Whole Earth?” at Linköping, Linköping University (LiU) hosted photographer Mark Edwards for an environmental seminar at Campus Valla June 4.

Edwards, a British photographer, has photographed people and environments in 150 countries; his exhibition “Hard Rain: Whole Earth?” presents earth-shattering pictures of how humanity uses the Earth’s resources, as well as example of positive initiative on the global and local levels.

The exhibition was on display in the park outside the County Library in Linköping until June 9.

In connection with this, LiU, collaborated with Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) and Linköping Municipality to arrange a luncheon seminar on the theme “Hard Rain – From Global Challenges to Local Solution” in T1, Building C, on Campus Valla that began at 11:00.

Edwards inaugurated the session with a lecture subtitled
“A trip from Bob Dylan’s lyrical challenges to global sustainable solutions”.

Following that, a speech was given by Tony Clark from the Ministry of the Environment and head of the Stockholm+40 Conference prior to the Rio Earth Summit.
