EILC - Erasmus Intensive Language Courses
What is EILC?
Erasmus Intensive Language Courses are arranged by a large number of higher education institutions in Europe and are available to Erasmus students. The courses are offered in the less widely spoken languages, i.e., NOT in German, Spanish, English or Spanish.
Who may apply?
If LiU nominates you for Erasmus Studies in a country with a less widely spoken language (see above), you can apply for an EILC.
The Grant
Each participant receives an extra grant for the course period in addition to the usual Erasmus grant. The EILC grant is EUR 150 per course week (full-time). The home university pays the grant. The grant is not paid if the course runs at the same time as normal term courses in the recipient country.
What do I need to do as an outgoing Erasmus student?
You must first find a course that combines well with your term start. Visit the EU Commission's website to see which courses are available. The course does not need to be offered at the same institution that you are admitted to. It is equally acceptable to choose a course at an institution in the same destination city or country.
When you have found a course that you want to attend, download the application form. Follow the instructions on the cover page and complete the necessary information. Once the form has been completed and signed, email the form to Helena Iacobaeus. The final day to apply for EILC courses held in summer 2013 is May 21st, 2013. The final day to apply for EILC winter courses is October 21st, 2013.
What happens next?
LiU will send your application to the institution that is arranging the course. Notification about your admission to the course will be sent to you directly. Once admitted, you must:
1) Email a copy of the admission decision as soon as possible to Helena Iacobaeus at the International Office.
2) When the course starts, fill in a Certificate of Arrival for Erasmus Grant (the section with EILC) and send it to the address stated on the form.
