Faculty of Science and Engineering – studies and internship abroad
Going abroad can be a great compliment to your studies at Linköping University. Not only does a semester abroad give you the opportunity to see new places and meet new people, but it can also broaden the scope of your knowledge and understanding of your field of studies. Regardless if you are a Swedish student or already an international student, a semester abroad is well worth considering.
Students who are not being nominated by Linköping University for exchange studies and want to study abroad will have to apply to a foreign university on their own, being a so called Free mover student.
Students from Linköping University must have completed at least two years of study at Linköping University when they apply for exchange studies. The next opportunity to apply for exchange studies will be for the spring semester 2019. Exchange places and application form will be published in mid-June. The deadline to apply is September 15.
Internship or thesis work
An internship could improve not just your communication, language and inter-cultural skills, but also provide you with soft skills highly valued by future employers. It is also possible to conduct your thesis work abroad, which could give you access to empirical data you would not get in Sweden. Erasmus+ is a European exchange programme that provides you with a scholarship and the opportunity to go on a placement for 2–12 months in other European countries.
Please note that the team at LiTH International work primarily with Exchange students and Erasmus placement. We will try to answer any question you might have to the best of our abilities, but understand that the service and support we can provide Free-mover are limited.
