Information about book borrowing exposed online

Information about library users and books borrowed through the self-service machines in the LiU libraries has been exposed online since 2012. The breach of security has been caused by the erroneous implementation of the administrative interface in the machines by the supplier. The library is taking the event seriously, and the machines have been taken out of use.

Thieves continue to steal mobiles with “paper cover” trick

Police Region Öst has earlier in 2019 warned about thieves at various institutions of higher education and libraries throughout the region. Unfortunately, the wave of thefts is continuing, and the same trick is often used. A student who is sitting and reading with the mobile lying beside is approached by a man and addressed in Italian. The man places at the same time some paper over the mobile, and when he subsequently leaves takes the paper and telephone hidden under it with him. (Article on polisen.se in Swedish)
