Faculty of Arts and Sciences
Dear Exchange Students!
Welcome to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
If you have academic questions e.g. regarding courses, course changes, certificates, extending your stay, etc. you are most welcome to visit us in D-house room 35:225 Mondays and Wednesdays 12.00-13.00, or at Campus Norrköping, 12:00-13:00 every first Friday of the month, Kåkenhus, room 2342.
You are also welcome to contact us at email@example.com.
Learning Agreement & Changes to Learning Agreement
Please keep in mind that learning agreements will be signed only after you have received your admission letter. You can email us your learning agreement at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you back a signed scanned copy. If you need the original document, you can visit us at the Exchange Student Help Desk and have it signed.
Please make sure that your learning agreement reflects exactly your admission letter, which means that they must contain the same courses. Note that all courses that you will study at LiU must be included in the Learning Agreement, irrespective of whether any credits will be awarded by the home university for those courses or not.
If you make any changes in your study plan, please fill in “table A2 During the mobility” in your Learning Agreement and send it to us sign it.
Here you can find the official guidelines on how to fill in your Learning Agreement
If you need signatures on other documents from your home university, or you need a Certificate of Arrival/Attendance/Departure, you can either send us an e-mail or come to the Exchange Student Help Desk.
Changing (adding/dropping) a course
In case you need to change a course, please come and see us at the Exchange Student Help Desk, or send us an e-mail and we will help you. For the change to be possible:
You need to meet the entry requirements for the course
There must be available places
You must contact us before the course starts
For courses that are full, students are put on a a waiting list and they are informed if they get accepted.
To attend a course to which you have not been admitted is not possible. A permission from the teacher of the course will not guarantee you a spot in the course, if the course is full and/or you do not fulfill the requirements.
Add a course from another faculty
As a student of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, you can even choose courses from the Faculty of Educational Sciences, as long as you meet the entry criteria. On the other hand, it is very difficult and complicated to take courses in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, due to schedule overlaps and eligibility issues.
If you wish to take a course from another faculty please send an e-mail with the name and code of the course to email@example.com or visit us at the Exchange Student Help Desk.
Remember to register for each course in the Student Portal as soon as the course starts. Otherwise you will not be able to get a grade for the course even if you pass the exam.
Also remember to register for written exams in the Student Portal at least 10 days before the exam. Read more in the Students' Examination Guide: http://www.student.liu.se/tenta/regler?l=en
The schedules for all courses can be found in Time Edit, searching by course name and/or code,. The schedule is released well before the start of the semester. The schedule may also be available via Lisam. If you cannot find it, please contact the teacher of the course. Always check the course home page for more information.
For students from other faculties
Students from the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Educational Sciences, or Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences who wish to take one course (7.5 ECTS) from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences should check that they fulfill the prerequisites for the course and contact their Faculty coordinator. .
Students from other faculties are generally not allowed to participate in Business courses.
