Cluster of cases confirmed at LiU
It has today been confirmed by the Infectious Diseases Unit at Region Östergötland that around ten students who attended a private party have been infected by the covid-19 virus.
A total of approximately 150 students from several university programmes at LiU attended the party, which was held on 19 September. It can, therefore, be expected that further cases will be reported.
“We are collaborating with the regional infectious diseases unit, and it is the responsibility of every individual to help with contact tracing. Students who experience symptoms are encouraged to get themselves tested. In addition, it is important that everyone continues to follow the general recommendations: keep your distance, stay at home if you are sick, and wash your hands often”, says Joakim Nejdeby, leader of the LiU crisis management group.
At the moment, LiU has no plans to take further measures than those already in place.
“We are, of course, monitoring the situation and collaborating with Region Östergötland. It is our perception that we are carrying out teaching in accordance with the restrictions that have been imposed”, says Joakim Nejdeby.
“I entreat our students to follow our recommendations also in their leisure time and not let their guard drop”.
