More extensive use of two-step verification

Starting 30 November, you will need to use two-step verification when logging in from an external network to LiU services. This affects all users who are either required to use two-step verification or have voluntarily enabled it.

For students, two-step verification will not be required when using Wiseflow for exams.

The IT division is implementing the change to increase security for our systems. It is important to have good protection for, for example, our files and personal data handled in our IT systems. Two-step verification in particular is a good security enhancement method that can prevent a large number of IT security incidents, including external attacks.

The University's IT services also need to comply with the regulations on security measures in information systems for government agencies (MSBFS 2020:7) from MSB (The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency). This regulations is mandatory for all Swedish public authorities.
